Amla pickle is an achar, or Indian-style pickle. Amla, or indian gooseberry, preserved as a pickle, with a seasoned edge that works well beside simple dishes and rice.
How to use it. Serve a small spoonful directly with the meal and close the container after use. It is an accompaniment and does not need cooking beforehand.
Best for. A useful choice with dal, basmati rice, chapati and curries. It also adds contrast to sandwiches, meat dishes and vegetarian meals.
