A thin, peppery soup of tamarind, tomato and black pepper. Taken before or during a meal, it is South India's household remedy for cold days.
How to make it. Dissolve in hot water, simmer for a few minutes and serve. Add fresh tomato and coriander if you like.
Best for. Drink from a glass or spoon it over plain rice. Low in fat and easy on the stomach.
